Vocations

Jesus instructed his followers to pray that God will send laborers into his vineyard. As a community of believers, we strive to create an environment where every parishioner can come to understand God's will for their life more fully.

We are particularly attentive to our responsibility to pray and work for an increase of priestly vocations to serve in our Diocese. Bishop DiMarzio's Prayer for Vocations is prayed following all Masses.

Those who are feeling that God may be calling them to the priesthood should find a priest or another mentor to assist you with discerning your call.

The vocation of consecrated religious is also a great blessing to the life of the Church. Young Catholic women discerning a call to religious life should contact the Vocation Office of our diocese.  They may also consider visiting some of the sisters and lay missionaries at Heart's Home, which is a short walk from Saint James Cathedral.
