From the Pastoral Administrator: World Mission Sunday

Read this week's bulletin

I have just returned from spending ten days with Bishop Brennan and a wonderful group of priests on retreat. It was a prayerful time and reminded me of the universal nature of our Church. It was a time of blessing for the Diocese of Brooklyn with the ordination to the diaconate of one of our own who grew up in Queens. It was also appropriate because we return to celebrate a moment of remembrance close to our hearts: Catholic World Mission Sunday. This special day is a time for all of us to unite to support the Church’s missionary work worldwide.

As we celebrate Catholic World Mission Sunday, let us reflect on the deeper meaning of this day. It is an opportunity for us to recognize the importance of missionary work and the vital role it plays in spreading the Gospel message to all corners of the earth. Our contributions, both spiritual and financial, are essential in helping to build up the Church in areas where it is not yet fully established and to support those who are dedicated to this mission.

On this day, we are called to open our hearts and minds to the needs of our brothers and sisters around the world. By participating in Catholic World Mission Sunday, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who are struggling and in need of our help. Our prayers, sacrifices, and donations will go a long way in providing much-needed support to missionaries who are working tirelessly to bring the light of Christ to those who have not yet encountered it.

As we gather for Catholic World Mission Sunday, I encourage all devoted Catholics to prayerfully consider how we can contribute to this important cause. Whether it’s through a financial donation, offering our time and talents, or simply keeping missionaries and their work in our prayers, every little bit helps. Together, we can make a significant impact and help to spread the love and message of Christ to the farthest reaches of the world.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our local, Diocesan and global Church. Your generosity and commitment to our mission are truly inspiring and greatly appreciated. Let us come together as a community to celebrate Catholic World Mission Sunday and make a lasting difference in the lives of those who are in need.

May God bless you and your families abundantly,
Fr. Joseph R. Gibino
